Barn Wedding at Chandler House, New Gloucester, Maine

Kara and Dave, did an awesome job with decorating the barn at the Chandler House for their wedding day. Wow! I couldn't believe how beautiful it was. If you are thinking about doing a barn wedding at a reasonably priced location, you must look at the Chandler House B and B. There was plenty of space for the family, bridesmaids, and groomsmen to stay overnight and lovely spaces for the "Getting Ready" shots the next morning. The ceremony took place on the lawn out back, as well as the cocktail hour, and the fire-works display later on that night. The barn was the perfect place for Dinner and Dancing. Barns are still one of my favorite places for a wedding! I guess it must be because I'm somewhat of a laid-back kind of soul. Sooo much fun!

I especially enjoyed Dave and Kara's pre-wedding "reveal' on the front porch. It was just priceless to see Dave's face when he saw his wife-to-be for the first time. I am so honored to be part of these "first meetings". They are often times very emotional and it is one reason why some couples are choosing to take a peek a little before the ceremony. The good old fashioned coming down the aisle is wonderful also. The sneak peek is sometimes easier on couples if they are overly emotional people and want a little more privacy. It's all good, you just need to figure out what works best for you.

Wedding at Clark's Cove Farm, Walpole, Maine

I loved watching Emily with her Mom, Dad, and sister, especially during the "Getting Ready" shots. They are a very close family and it really showed in the support they gave to Emily on her wedding day. Emily and Chad were married at Chad's family home overlooking a saltwater bay. Chad's brother and Emily's sister stood up with them at the ceremony. They read the "Giving Tree" book to Emily and Chad during the ceremony which was a very touching moment. Cocktail hour and tented reception followed at Clark's Cove Farm down the road. Of course I was thrilled to have so many beautiful locations and lighting to work with. The fields, and apple trees at Clark's Cove were truly picturesque and Chad and Emily looked so natural walking around the property. The vintage car they rented for the occasion was amazing also. One of my favorite parts of the day was to see Emily with her trained dancer friends. They were all so much fun to watch. At times they would do some of their dance choreography together. Another high-light was the dancing in the barn at Clark's Cove. At one point Emily brought in their two dogs to the music "Who Let the Dogs out". It was a big hit. Chad and Emily, you couldn't have been a nicer couple. We wish you the very best in your new life together!

Wedding at the Samoset Resort in Rockland, Maine

Jessica and Chris were married on a warm August day at the Samoset Resort on the rocky coast of Rockland, Maine. Jessica looked beautiful wearing a wedding dress she picked out on the TV show, "Say Yes to the Dress". Her flowers were also extra special because her Mother made all the bouquets, table centerpieces, everything! Both the ceremony and cocktail hour were held on the back lawn of the Samoset overlooking the golf course and ocean beyond. Gregory and I had lots of fun cruising about with Jessica and Chris on golf carts for the "couples shots". We drove down to the Break-water for some amazing romantic landscape shots.

One of the highlights of the evening was the First Dance between Jessica and Chris. Wow, these guys really hammed it up with a compilation of upbeat songs. They certainly put their heart and soul into it. The cake was entirely cute (check it out), and the photo booth and dancing kept their guests happy late into the evening.

The Samoset really is a dream place to get married. Everybody just loves the wedding coordinator, Will. He's the best ever! I highly recommend him. The other nice thing about the Samoset is that if it is raining, there are 3 separate ballrooms to use for ceremony, cocktail hour, and reception. Hopefully it doesn't rain on your wedding day, as there are hundreds of acres of gorgeous ocean front to enjoy. Congrats Chris and Jess! You were by far my favorite "Say Yes to the Dress" couple, ever! Fun and sweet!

Wedding in Blue Hill Maine

Anne and Hannes' day was picture perfect at Anne's family home on the ocean in Blue Hill, Maine. I don't think I have ever seen a more beautiful location with blue ocean all around. Anne was my kind of bride, not too fearful of moving about in her dress, etc. Maybe a little too adventuresome for my comfort, she walked out on the mud flats at low tide, with her dress and shoes on, for couples shots. It was slippery on the rocks and I really thought she was going to fall in at times! This was all BEFORE the ceremony. Hannes on the other hand was a little less aggressive. Hannes (from Germany) was more conservative in his approach and careful of his leather shoes from Italy :) After the ceremony, the bridal party cruised in a local fishing boat up to the little village of Blue Hill, to the Arbor-vine Restaurant for reception. It was truly a delightful evening with wines paired with the most amazing food courses. It was "hands down" the BEST meal we have ever had in our career as wedding photographers. The Old Maine Cape with Latin jazz band playing in the back ground was an atmospheric dream. Love, love, love it.

Wedding in Lyman, Maine

Jennifer and Jason were perfectly sweet on their wedding day! They hosted both the ceremony and reception at their home in Lyman, with a down-home tented Lobstah Bake. Mainers know how to celebrate with style and simplicity. After the reception was over, the couple took us to some of their favorite spots in the neighborhood for their "Couples" shots, which included a farm field and cemetery. It was the perfect time of day, so the light was amazing. Of course the late September leaves were in full glory, which added to the beauty. I love Maine in the Fall! Even their dog enjoyed the festivities by imbibing a few drops of her favorite beer :) Thanks for opening up your home and hearts to us, Jennifer and Jason.

Wedding in Harpswell Maine

This Harpswell ocean estate was truly gorgeous. It is where Liz came to visit with her family every summer growing up. It holds a very special place in her heart. Liz and Rishi held their intimate wedding day festivities here beginning late in the afternoon. The official nuptials took place just before sun-set creating a dramatic back-drop for the entire ceremony. Liz wore her Grandmother's wedding dress from the 1940's and looked so beautiful with her tall slender figure.

Their evening dinner party was held on the property in their Aunt and Uncle's private Art Gallery with modern paintings hanging on the walls. The food was catered with an artistic flair, including edible flowers.

One of the very special things I loved watching during the day was the way that Liz's brides-Man was so attentive to Liz's every need, helping her get ready, etc.; what an amazing friend. Also, Liz's parents were wonderful ballroom dancers and it was such a joy watching them, full of expression and life.

What fun! I LOVE barn weddings. What an amazingly relaxed environment for a summertime wedding in Maine. Elizabeth did an amazing DIY job with all the details that make a barn wedding so elegant. As you can see from the photos, the new blended family is happy and secure in their new found marital union. What precious children. The field shots that were taken at about an hour before the sun set, are some of my favorite couple's shots!

Jodie and Paul celebrated their big day in style at the historic Bar Harbor Club in beautiful Bar Harbor, Maine. Paul was so tender with his bride, and at the ceremony had folks in tears when he gently kissed her hand. After the "I Do's", guests walked up to the elegant terrace for cocktails, overlooking Frenchman Bay. As the sun set, the party began in ernest with dancing and later on, the guys enjoyed custom stogies with Paul's name on the labels. I would give Jodie, Paul and their guests a 10+ for enthusiasm and artistic expression on the dance floor! Gregory and I wish them a happy and long marriage.

Jessica told me in her preliminary consult, that she she didn't do well with "posed" photographs. So I tried to stay true to the documentary style as much as possible, and didn't ask her to pose too much. She did brilliantly with this style. You can see her true personality showing through in these photos. Fun, natural, relaxed, and full of life! I LOVED this couple's first dance together. Pure classic Sinatra.

Wedding at the 1812 Farm, Damariscotta, Maine-Emily and Matt

Matt and Emily's day could be compared to a gorgeous arrangement of a well known musical composition. They followed well established and meaningful Jewish traditions developed over three or more millennia, and yet here and there, shaped it in their own artistic way. Emily, a doctoral student of conducting, and Matt, a playwright, started their day together with an intimate meeting in front of her parent's lake house. More relatives and friends arrived and witnessed the signing of the Ketubah. From there everybody drove to the 1812 Farm, a lovely old farm house and barn, for the rest of the day's events: As the Tisch, ceremony under the Huppah, breaking of the glass, and the wild, celebratory dancing of the Hora, unfolded, Gregory and I were captivated by the tender beauty, intrinsic to each time-honored tradition. We were truly honored to be part of such a magical day and will never forget it. Thanks Matt and Emily and congratulations to you both.

We would certainly recommend the 1812 Farm for your event! The house, with an amazing "getting ready" room, and the landscaping is beyond lovely. The food and service is unsurpassed.

This church is truly amazing to shoot in! It also has a gorgeous garden cloister area which was a perfect spot for shooting group photos after the ceremony. Deering Oaks Park is only a 2 minute car ride away so we did the wedding-party and couples shots there.

Abby and Chris told me that they weren't an overly demonstrative couple so I spared them from having to kiss too much for the camera. The few kisses I was able to capture are actually some of my favorite black and white romantic shots. Thankfully they love black and white as much as I do, so I hope they don't mind me posting them here on my blog. Chris, you have such a natural "gangsta" look. Love it!

Chris and Abby have a wonderful set of friends and family who seem to be very devoted to them. They were all so riotously fun to be with! As you can see from the reception photos, everyone knew how to get down and party.

Congratulations Chris and Abby. Greg and I hope you have a long life of love together and many years of enjoyment in your mutual passion for sports!

Okay, these two were absolutely inspiring for me! Their boundless energy and freedom of expression blew me away. We had the best time moving from Wharf Street, to Mexicali Blues, to the Narrow Gage Railway. We ended up at the East End Park for a few late evening shots. It was the perfect time of day for shooting. About 6:30-8:00pm. Thank you so much Julia and Chris for sharing your warm personalities with Gregory and I. You gave us a mix of whimsy, bohemian, fashion, and artsy. A great combo! We can't wait until October for your nuptials at the Portland Country Club.

Maine boy and girl go to Disney for their nuptials! That would be Laci and Jason. They are the cutest, sweetest, most comical couple. We flew down to Disney to shoot their very relaxed "elopement" event at Disney's Polynesian Resort. It was soooo"them". We even got to spend the day in the Magic Kingdom. This beautiful event was held at the Haille Plantation Country Club, Gainesville, FL. Home of The Gators. Rachel was an absolutely stunning bride. She was so interesting for me to photograph. The big hit of the day was the 1934 Black Plymouth car they rented. Amazing car! Both Keith and Rachel have a passion for vintage cars, so this was perfect for them in every way. I also have to say to Rachel's Mom, "You have great taste in color in your house". It made my job really easy when I was taking the "Getting Ready" shots.

The location of this wedding was absolutely stunning! The wedding itself took place at the Pemaquid Lighthouse along the coast of Maine and the reception was held at the Bradley Inn nearby. The couple, Amy and Scott, are two very special people and as you can see from their photos they were ecstatic to become man and wife. I love these very small intimate affairs with family and very special friends only. Everyone is usually very relaxed and laid back. My kind of wedding!

I love this collection of photos. Chip and Meghan wanted to do their "formal group shots" before their ceremony. They did a special "reveal" time with just the two of them, so Chip could enjoy his first look at his new bride in privacy. The garden/wooded hollow was the perfect meeting spot for them.
